Recently, three of our staff members passed their First Aid Training Course at the St. Johns Ambulance Training Centre in Adamstown.

Chris Reed, Rhys Higgins and Suzanne Laidler all performed various tasks in order to obtain the achievement.

The team learnt a variety of skills including performing CPR, utilizing a defibrillator, treating snake and insect bites, and correctly using bandages and slings.

The team also underwent a scenario to test themselves. In one example, our Client Services Officer Chris had to explain what he would do to treat a particular patient. The patient, allergic to bees, was stung and slipped over before going into shock. Chris responded by explaining he would use an epi-pen to prevent a serious allergic reaction, and to ensure they were warm and comfortable to prevent the patients’ state of shock.

After completing the training, the team were assessed on their new skills and completed a written test to finalise the day.

They now hold their Certificate and are able to provide proper help if someone is in need of it in the office.
